A young man is on trial accused of forging vaccination cards. How did he proceed and what was his motive?

He is said to have falsified vaccination cards on a large scale: A 28-year-old confessed to a number of crimes before the Berlin district court. The 28-year-old explained on Friday at the beginning of the trial that he had produced 100 counterfeits and sold some of them.

According to the indictment, he had obtained blank vaccination cards and obtained stickers for corona vaccines from a Brandenburg health department via a separately prosecuted accomplice. With the help of a false doctor’s stamp, the accused finally sold fake evidence for 80 euros each.

According to investigations, the man is said to have sold a total of 44 counterfeits to third parties by April 27, 2021 – “which threatened to seriously disrupt general trust in the probative value of such vaccination cards,” according to the indictment. The 28-year-old at least accepted that with approval.

The defendant explained that it was “just about making money”. He obtained blank vaccination cards via the Internet. He did not want to comment on the accomplice through whom he obtained the “Covid 19 Vaccine AstraZeneca” vaccination sticker. It should be about a former Bundeswehr soldier, it was said in the process.

In the case of the fake vaccination cards, the charge is document forgery. The man, who has no previous convictions, is also accused of dealing in cocaine, amphetamine and doping substances. He is also said to have obtained counterfeit money with a fictitious value of around 25,000 euros.
