Farewell to Jürgen Drews
The king sings for the last time – and his daughter touches with a heartfelt declaration of love

About half a year ago, Schlager legend Jürgen Drews announced the end of his career. The “King of Mallorca” was celebrated again on ARD. When daughter Joelina entered the stage, tears flowed.
“I am grateful to be able to call such a unique, extraordinary person my father and that I was able to share the stage with you one last time and that I can also show this memory to your grandchildren and great-grandchildren.” Joelina Drews addressed these heartbreaking words to her father Jürgen, who was now said goodbye with a big show on ARD.
The King’s Last Appearance
Florian Silbereisen presented “For the very last time: The big hit farewell!” In the show, the 77-year-old “King of Mallorca” is on stage for the very last time. Jürgen Drews, dressed in a shimmering pink suit with black lapels and a bow tie, not only performed his hits like “König von Mallorca”, “I’ll build you a castle” or “Sometime, somewhere, somehow (let’s see us again)”, he also took a seat on a sofa next to his wife Ramona and daughter Joelina Drews.
It got particularly emotional with her. Together they performed the ballad “We’ve Got Tonight” in a duet. As Drews watched his Joelina sing, tears welled up in his eyes again.
On Instagram the singer dedicated a few loving words to her father, “protector”, “solid as a rock” and “role model”. “Your career and life’s work are extraordinary and I admire you for that and take my hat off to you!” Jürgen Drews was a “pioneer” of a “whole music genre”.
And Jürgen Drews also got in touch on social media one last word about his farewell – but kept it short with a “THANK YOU”.
Maite Kelly with a song for Jürgen Drews
In the show recorded in Leipzig in October, numerous stars also wanted to say goodbye to the musician. Among others, Anna-Maria Zimmermann, Marianne Rosenberg and Maite Kelly were on stage and presented their own hits. However, the latter also had a specially composed song for Drews in her luggage, which she performed with Silbereisen and thus made Drews’ eyes wet. Silbereisen also delivered a duet with Beatrice Egli, together they performed “1000 and 1 Night (Zoom!)”.
