“Permanent sexual assault”: Jana Pallaske settles accounts with Hollywood

Jana Pallaske boosted her Hollywood career before she trotted through various German reality shows. And quite successfully. In the jungle camp, the actress spoke about the dark side of the film industry.
If you look at Jana Pallaske’s filmography, it’s almost a little strange that the actress moved to the jungle camp at all. She not only played in German cinema hits like “Fack ju Göhte”, but also in Hollywood productions such as Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds”. But at some point Pallaske had had enough of the film industry. She unpacked the reasons on her last day in the jungle camp.

“I was in Hollywood and also in LA and was completely traumatized there. I realized very quickly: I won’t sell my soul for this,” she revealed to camp colleague Jolina Mennen. “There was just constant sexual assault. It was so common, it was clearly required,” she said of her experiences.
Her time in nature “healed” her from her trauma, Pallaske admitted. “In the jungle, I took off my armor bit by bit and felt my wings spread again, how I dared to step into my female power again,” she said.
Abuse of power in the film industry
However, Pallaske did not name any names, nor did she indirectly accuse any of her Hollywood acquaintances. In October 2017, the MeToo movement began in Hollywood after several women publicly accused film producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual abuse.
“Inglourious Basterds” was also produced by the Weinstein Company. However, it is not known whether Jana Pallaske met Weinstein. Director Tarantino also came under the spotlight in the wake of the MeToo debate. Uma Thurman accused the “Kill Bill” director of abusing his power on the set and putting her in danger.
