This Friday, January 27, the ex-companion of Julie Douib, Bruno Garcia-Cruciani was sentenced on appeal to life imprisonment, accompanied by 22 years of security, for the assassination of the young woman which occurred in March 2019. A sentence equivalent to his conviction at first instance.
After three hours of deliberation, the Court of Assizes of South Corsica condemned on appeal Bruno Garcia Cruciani to life imprisonment, with 22 years of security, for the assassination of his ex-companion, Julie Duibwhich occurred in March 2019.
A sentence equivalent to the requisitions of the Advocate General and her sentence at first instance. The jurors notably found him guilty of having voluntarily killed Julie Douib, and of premeditation.
During their pleadings, the defense lawyers had asked for the addition of a question intended for the jurors. The latter related to a recognition of an alteration in the discernment of Bruno Garcia-Cruciani following the taking of anabolics. A question to which the jurors answered in the negative.
Regarding the civil part of the conviction, Bruno Garcia-Cruciani was stripped of his parental authority over his two children. Since the trial in the first instance of the quarantine, this parental authority has been delegated to the maternal grandparents of the children.
In March 2019, Julie Duib34, was shot and killed by Bruno Garcia Cruciani at theIle Rousse. Mother of two children, now aged 12 and 14, she had filed several complaints of violence. All were dismissed without further action.
At the time of her death, Julie Duib was separated from Bruno Garcia Cruciani Since six months. This highly symbolic case had contributed to the opening of a “Grenelle” against violence against women.
