Julian Reichelt case: NDR takes the Reschke program out of the media library

The Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) has a broadcast about the former after a court order Picture– Editor-in-chief Julian Reichelt removed from the ARD media library. At the request of the German Press Agency, the public broadcaster informed the German Press Agency that the program is currently not available in the media library due to the current decision of the Hamburg Regional Court. “Please understand that we will not comment further on an ongoing process.”

It is a sequel to the TV format Reschke television from February, which was presented by the journalist Anja Reschke. The district court of Hamburg temporarily prohibited statements in eleven of the 16 offending passages. Objections to this can still be filed.

The TV episode is about the abuse of power. Reichelt had to resign in autumn 2021 as editor-in-chief of Germany’s largest tabloid Picture vacate and leave the Axel Springer Group.

In the spring of 2021, the media group initiated internal proceedings against the journalist to review allegations of abuse of power and initially decided to give him a second chance. The New York Times then picked up the case again in October 2021, and Springer released Reichelt from his duties immediately afterwards. The journalist himself later spoke of a “smear campaign” against him and always rejected allegations.
