Jul will finally not testify at the trial of the assassination of Karim Tir, his ex-manager. The rapper, who was to be heard this Friday, let it be known by a letter from his lawyer on Monday that he would indeed be “prevented” during the three weeks of hearing of the Assize Court of Bouches-du-Rhône. Since Monday, eight men have been on the dock, in this case mixing Parisian banditry and fratricidal war between two Marseille family clans, against a background of drug trafficking in the northern districts of Marseille.
Three of them are prosecuted for this assassination on June 12, 2014 in Asnières-sur-Seine (Hauts-de-Seine), as part of an “organized gang”, five others only for association of criminals, for their role of logisticians.
According to the investigation, it was the visibility of rapper Jul that had allowed the murderers to easily track and monitor their target. “They were hiding Jul to go up Karim Tir”, explained a witness under X. Karim Tir, who had become the manager of the Marseille rapper, wanted to turn the page on drug trafficking. But the “vendetta” decimating his family caught up with him.
