No, Judith Godrèche is not a candidate to replace Dominique Boutonnat at the head of the CNC. The latter resigned last June after being sentenced to three years in prison, including one year, for sexual assault on his godson.
In its online edition, the weekly The Point maintains that theactress and director “is one” of the candidates to the succession of Dominique Boutonnat. “I learned about this today from an article in the weekly The Point that I would be a candidate for the presidency of the National Cinema Center (CNC). I would like to deny this false information, having never been a candidate for this position,” indicates Judith Godrèche in a statement to AFP.
“Just a rumor”
The actress also assures that she was not contacted “previously” by The Point to verify “what was only a rumor” and said he wondered “about the reasons for its propagation”.
Contacted by AFP, the CNC did not comment. The Ministry of Culture, the supervisory authority responsible for appointing the next leader of the CNC, did not immediately follow up.
The CNC, of which deputy general manager Olivier Henrard is interim president, generates 770 million euros per year and plays a crucial role in financing the 7th art as well as the entire audiovisual sector. He monitors the media chronology and its respect by streaming platforms and plays a central role in questions of the fight against sexual violence, a subject dear to Judith Godrèche.
