The professional footballer had caused countless discussions over the past few weeks with his vaccination status. In October he made public that he had not yet been vaccinated against the virus and justified this with a lack of “long-term studies”. Shortly before Kimmich’s positive corona test became known, national coach Hansi Flick (56), according to media reports, indicated that the 26-year-old might now want to be vaccinated.
Choupo-Moting also tested positive
A few hours earlier, the club had also confirmed that Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (32) had tested positive for the virus. He is doing “under the circumstances” and is also in domestic isolation. In addition to the 32-year-old, Serge Gnabry (26), Jamal Musiala (18), Michael Cuisance (22) and Kimmich recently had to be quarantined because of contact with a person who tested positive.
According to information from “Kicker” and Bayerischer Rundfunk, Gnabry and Musiala are said to have been vaccinated in the meantime. The two fully vaccinated players Niklas Süle (26) and Josip Stanisic (21), who recently tested positive, are back in training, according to FC Bayern.
