Jorge Sampaoli “wants exemplary sanctions” after the violence in the Europa League

In the aftermath of the incidents which marked the Europa League meeting between Olympique de Marseille and Galatasaray, Marseille coach Jorge Sampaoli felt that the match should have been definitively stopped. “The match should have been stopped, if we continue the match with this violence, we show that it is part of the game. Do we want to get used to that”, he questioned in conference of press before the Ligue 1 match against Lille on Sunday (5 p.m.).

“We especially wonder why so many people come from so far to come and cause this kind of incident. He prefers to come and create their own show rather than admire the one on the field. I want exemplary sanctions against this violence, otherwise it will become natural. Are families going to be allowed to return to the stadium with peace of mind? Because here we are not talking about water bottles, but bombs. […] It’s a shame what happened, ”said Gorge Sampaoli.

Five arrests

For Amine Harit, “when you’re in the field, you don’t really calculate. After the match was stopped for long minutes so obviously we paid attention. We would prefer things to go well in order to be able to play in front of our supporters, otherwise it is penalizing for them and for us to play behind closed doors ”.
