The best comes last? At the new summer festival “Pfaffenwinkel Live” one would like to contradict boldly. Because the start with Pizza & snacks on July 14th in the Sportpark Pöcking is already a promising announcement. The rock stars of the young Austro music cabaret are “unbearably successful” in the neighboring country (butterfly) with triple platinum albums and, pre-Corona, full stadiums. From her concert at the big Munich Tollwood (July 11/12) she goes straight to the Pfaffenwinkel to this festival novelty, which spreads out very widely in the hottest phase of the tourist season, from July to September, with a total of eight concerts at five different locations. And who can really boast, with world stars from the classical world: with Jonas Kaufmann (July 28th, Maierhof des Klosters Benediktbeuern) and Rolando Villazón & Xavier de Maistre (September 11th, Wieskirche/Steingaden)
The program of the organizer duo, Birgit Gibson from Pähl and Manfred Hertlein from Würzburg, is extremely flexible in terms of musical taste: between the rocking taunts from Austria and the tenors from Munich and Mexico there is still room for relaxed CubaBoarian Tradicional (July 15, Sportpark Pöcking), Haindling (July 16th, Sportpark Pöcking), Michael Fitz, (July 23rd, Stadttheater Weilheim), the Queen Revival Band (August 26, MTV Dießen area) and Hubert von Goisern (August 27, MTV Dießen area).
The ticket prices are hard calculated and at Munich level. Pizzera & Jaus, for example, can be heard in the Tollwood Musikarena for 43.90 euros, in the Pöckinger Sportpark you pay ten euros more. At Hubert von Goisern, the tickets in Dießen start at 55.45 euros and are therefore just under the Tollwood price. It is well known that Jonas Kaufmann’s fans are willing to invest a lot. At the Open Air Festival in Benedikbeuren, where the new Austrian performs with his colleague, the American soprano Rachel Willis-Soerensen, and the orchestra of the Augsburg State Theater, tickets range from 84.50 to 246.50 euros. Incidentally, you can hear Kaufmann at his recital on July 23 at the Munich National Theater for eleven euros (standing room); there are still plenty of tickets in this category.
