A new two-part documentary sheds light on the War of the Roses by Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.

They were a Hollywood dream couple, but the marriage of Johnny Depp (58) and Amber Heard (35) broke up after a short time. This was followed by a bitter war of the roses, about which a two-part documentary is now being produced. The streaming service Discovery + has announced that the documentary “Johnny vs Amber” has been commissioned, reports the industry magazine “The Hollywood Reporter”.

“Celebrity Trial of the Decade”

The documentation should therefore be about “the story of the breakdown” of the relationship – and about how the “celebrity trial of the decade” came about. The two parts of the documentary should be told from different perspectives – one from Depp’s point of view, the other from Heard’s perspective.

Lawyers from both sides as well as people close to the former couple should have their say. In addition, they use audio and video material that was recorded by Depp and Heard. It is not yet known when the whole thing will be shown and whether the documentary will also come to Germany.

Depp married Heard in 2015. The couple separated again in 2016 and divorced in early 2017. Since then, a war of the roses has raged, in which both parties accused each other of domestic violence, among other things. A defamation lawsuit against Heard is expected to be heard in court in the United States in the coming year. However, he lost in court in 2020 with a similar lawsuit against the British tabloid “The Sun”, which Depp had described in an article as a “wife beater”.
