Joe Biden will attend COP27 in Egypt before heading to the G20

US President Joe Biden will attend the UN COP27 climate conference in Egypt on November 11, White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre said on Friday.

It “will be based on the considerable work undertaken by the United States to advance the fight against climate change at the global level”, said Karine Jean-Pierre in a press release. Joe Biden will also stress “that the world must act in this decisive decade”, she added.

The Democratic President will continue his diplomatic tour by going from November 13 to 16 to Bali, Indonesia, to take part in the G20 summit, after a stopover in Cambodia from November 12 to 13 for the summit of the Association of Asian Nations Southeast (Asean).

No interview scheduled with Putin

In Bali, Joe Biden “will work with G20 partners on key topics such as climate change or the global impact of the war led by (Russian President) Putin in Ukraine”, according to Karine Jean-Pierre.

Vladimir Putin could also be present at the G20 summit, even if he said in mid-October that he had not yet made his decision. The Russian president also said he did not see “the need” for talks with Joe Biden on the sidelines of this meeting.

On the American side, the White House assured Thursday that Joe Biden had “no intention” of having a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at this summit.
