Job market Ebersberg – good news for apprentices – Ebersberg

The apprenticeship year also begins in autumn. After the corona pandemic in 2020/2021 made it extremely difficult for young people to find an apprenticeship position, at least a certain degree of relaxation is emerging this year. The head of the Freising and Ebersberg employment agency, Nikolaus Windisch, draws an overall positive balance. The regional economy is recovering, he says, and so the situation has normalized somewhat in many areas since early summer. Internships, personal consultations, job interviews and even the first career orientation fairs could have taken place again, the economic situation is easing in many industries. Many companies would then be faced with the same challenges that would have preoccupied them before the Corona crisis: the search for the skilled workers of tomorrow. At the start of training in September, 180 of a total of 671 registered training positions were vacant.

After declining job registrations in the past year, the number of apprenticeships in the Ebersberg district has now stabilized again, according to the employment agency. A total of 671 training positions meant seven fewer positions than in the previous year. The decline was recorded in trade and mechanical engineering, while an increase was reported in the production of food and feed as well as in the construction industry.

Almost all young people interested in training who had registered with the Ebersberger Employment Agency for career advice could have been placed in vocational or school training at the beginning of the apprenticeship year. As reported by the employment agency, out of 588 applicants, 17 fewer than in the previous year, eight young people were still “unsupported” on the cut-off date in autumn. Harald Brandmaier, head of career counseling at the employment agency, emphasizes that anyone who has not yet found a suitable apprenticeship position should definitely stick with it. “Many companies also employ trainees after they have started their regular training.” In the Ebersberg area, prospective wholesalers and retailers, system mechanics for sanitary, heating and air conditioning technology, salespeople and medical assistants are still being sought.

Apprenticeships were also still available in the skilled trades at the start of the apprenticeship. Since the beginning of the year, 259 new apprenticeship contracts have been concluded, 18 fewer than in the same period a year ago. “The follow-up placement is again of particular importance this year,” stated Johann Schwaiger, master craftsman in the district of Ebersberg. According to Schwaiger, several training contracts will be concluded in the next few weeks. “In the area of the guilds that belong to the Ebersberg District Craftsmen’s Association, we will reach the level of the previous year by the end of the year.” The craft is also involved in the Corona period together with municipalities and schools in the field of professional orientation. “The structures, which have grown very well in the meantime, and many small building blocks contribute to the success of the district over and over again.”

After stable training figures in the previous year, the number of apprenticeship contracts concluded in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry has decreased. 239 new trainees started their training here, 33 fewer than in 2020.
