Jewel robbery in the Green Vault: Remmo clan boss apparently arranged a deal

According to MDR information, the deal also includes four defendants making confessions. In return, a small prison sentence could have been promised. The Dresden public prosecutor did not comment on MDR inquiries and referred to the ongoing proceedings.

After breaking into the Green Vault: The most valuable pieces are still missing

On the first and second day of Christmas, divers searched the bottom of a canal in Berlin’s Neukölln district. According to the police, this search was related to the break-in into the Green Vault. There have already been several searches in the past that are said to have been related to other crimes that the Remmo family is accused of. Several family members are said to live in the vicinity of the canal.

According to prosecutors, 31 pieces of loot from the Green Vault were returned. These should also include pieces that appear complete at first glance. These should include the so-called heron tail and the breast star of the Polish Order of the White Eagle. This apparently means that most of the pieces have been returned. However, the most expensive ones are still missing, including the epaulette with a 50-carat diamond.

Clan expert and SPD MP warns against repeat acts

Tom Schreiber sees the return of the jewels not only as a success for the investigative authorities. “The problem is that members of the clan have already been noticed as criminals in the past and some of them are possible repeat offenders. The point here is that one can and must assume that there will be sequels, in other areas possibly and in other federal states or in Europe.”

What exactly the negotiated deal looks like is expected to be clarified in court from January 10th.
