Javier Bardem once jumped out of a cake dressed as a Bond girl and sang a Marilyn Monroe birthday song for Daniel Craig.

Actor Javier Bardem (52) had a very special surprise for his British colleague Daniel Craig (53) a few years ago. In the Bond Girl outfit, the Spanish Hollywood star jumped out of a cake and sang a birthday song for the birthday boy. The two opened up about it during their chat for Variety’s Actors on Actors series.

At that time they celebrated their birthday together. Bardem has March 1st, Craig has March 2nd.

Bond girl performance encouraged Bardem

Oscar winner Bardem also had to sing for his new film “Being the Ricardos” (2021). The fact that his “Happy Birthday” performance for Craig was his first such singing experience made him insecure before filming, he now reveals. “I’m not musical, apart from jumping out of birthday cakes dressed up as a Bond girl. I sang ‘Happy Birthday to You’ in my best Marilyn Monroe impersonation,” he said.

“I remember you were in drag, but I know that’s a whole different story,” Craig joked. But he replied with a laugh: “I come out of a cake. I was supposed to be the Bond girl tonight and oh my god I was!”

Elsewhere in the conversation, the stars praised each other and explained that they’d love to work together again after Bardem played a Bond villain in 2012’s Skyfall. Craig embodied the British secret agent in five films.
