Friday was an important, strange day for Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. In the evening he appeared before the media and declared a dramatic change in Japan’s security policy. His cabinet had previously approved the National Security Strategy (NSS) and two other key documents outlining Japan’s new defense aspirations.
