Don’t trust anyone under 30: The casting director of the 007 series has now revealed why no young actor can play James Bond.

It is not yet known who will succeed Daniel Craig as the new James Bond. But it is clear that there will be no actor under 30. 007 producer Michael G. Wilson once again categorically ruled that out a few months ago.

In an interview with the British magazine “Radio Times”, Debbie McWilliams revealed why younger actors find it difficult to play the role of the double zero agent. The casting director has been responsible for casting the 007 films for 36 years.

McWilliams talked about finding a Bond actor for “Casino Royale”. Since the 2006 film is an Art Origin story by James Bond, younger actors were also in the draw. As is well known, however, Daniel Craig won the race. At the time of shooting he was 38 years old – making him one of the youngest 007 mimes. Only Sean Connery (at 32) and George Lazenby (the youngest at 29) were also under 40 when they debuted.

Henry Cavill is being tipped as the new James Bond

The younger cast who auditioned for Casino Royale lacked Gravitas, according to Debbie McWilliams. Which could be translated as heaviness, weight but also seriousness. “They didn’t have the experience, they didn’t have the mental capacity to do this job,” she said. “Because it’s not just the role they’re taking on, it’s a huge burden.”

The fact that only actors over 30 are in the raffle pot does not mean that well-known actors have an advantage. According to McWilliams, it’s all about finding the best candidate. After all, the previous 007 actors were also rather unknown to the general public.

Main favorites right now are Aaron Taylor-Johnson, 32, and Henry Cavill, 39.
