Ismaning – town hall branch office as a showcase for climate protection – district of Munich

The municipality of Ismaning also wants to promote climate protection in its construction projects. The new headquarters of the structural and civil engineering departments, the so-called technical town hall, which the municipality wants to build on Erich-Zeitler-Straße between the middle school, indoor pool and community hall, is considered a showcase project. The municipal council has now approved the designs for the building. According to the most recent, corrected calculations, the costs amount to EUR 15.9 million, including a risk reserve of EUR 2.65 million.

The Technical Town Hall is primarily intended to relieve the historic Ismaninger Castle, in which the administration has its headquarters. With the two-storey house, the municipality also wants to set standards in terms of sustainable construction: the building will be constructed of wood from the ground floor onwards, and the roof and facade will be green; Electricity and heat come from local geothermal energy and a photovoltaic system on the roof. For a pleasant climate without excessive energy consumption, only certain rooms in the building are air-conditioned, most are ventilated via windows and surrounding balconies.

After the draft has been approved in Ismaning, the building application then goes to the district office for approval. In August, according to the municipality, the existing after-school care center on Erich-Zeitler-Strasse is to be demolished to make room for the new town hall building. If the construction work progresses without further delays, the technical town hall should be ready for occupancy by July 2024.
