ISIS fighters confess to action: bombing terror in Uganda’s capital – politics abroad

Kampala – The bombing terror in the capital of Uganda is not ending!

Two explosions in Uganda’s capital Kampala left dead and injured on Tuesday. According to the police, the attacks were suicide – at least three people were killed and 33 others were injured, five of them seriously.

The Islamic State (ISIS) jihadist militia claimed responsibility for the attacks.

The detonations occurred in a commercial area of Kampala near the central police station and near the parliament. Eyewitnesses reported two violent detonations one minute apart. The road to Parliament was closed and the Ugandan Red Cross sent rescue teams.

A third attack was foiled, according to the police. A police spokesman said the emergency services had secured an improvised explosive device in the home of a suspected suicide bomber. The man was shot and injured in the action.

The police blamed the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) for the attacks. The ADF are originally a Ugandan rebel group, which the USA believes is linked to the Islamist militia Islamic State (IS). It is active in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and has already been blamed for a number of attacks in Uganda.

A few weeks ago, several people were injured and a woman was killed in two explosions in Kampala and in a suburb of the city. The police suspect that the ADF was also behind it.
