Is Syria falling short in aid deliveries? That’s why it’s stuck

After the earthquake, Germany sent several planes with relief supplies to Turkey. In north-west Syria, however, people are still waiting. Why is that?

After the devastating earthquake in the border region of Turkey and Syria, various aid deliveries from abroad are on their way – or have already arrived. Support is also approaching from Germany. Three Bundeswehr Airbus A400M aircraft are on their way to bring around 50 tons of relief supplies to the region. Turkey had requested so-called emergency medical teams from Germany. Also tents, heaters, generators. (Read more about German earthquake aid here.) According to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, a total of 70 countries and 14 international organizations have pledged their support to Turkey.
