Uncompromising. On Monday evening, the behavior of a candidate from the 19th season of “Love is in the Meadow”, Stéphane, did not go unnoticed. And for good reason. The 45-year-old sheep and suckler cow farmer, originally from Vosges, was particularly picky about the criteria of his courtesans when opening the letters. Requirements that he reminded his nine suitors of during the speed dating event, prompting the host Karine Le Marchand to call him to order. Too high a requirement in the criteria that does not really pay off. Replay!
“I don’t want a girl who smokes”
Muscular, well-dressed, with a laughing eye… Stéphane has what it takes to charm. But the character quickly appeared disconcerting during episode 3 of “Love is in the Meadow”. This breeder from the Vosges, who suffered from Lyme disease, surprised with an initial list of criteria listed as he opened his suitors’ letters. The 45-year-old man is looking for a woman who favors a close relationship, raising an eyebrow when a suitor described herself as “independent”. The star sign of his future sweetheart is also very important. She should preferably be Aquarius, Sagittarius, Gemini, Leo or Aries to be compatible with him. Finally, she must have blue eyes. But this list, listed as he reads the letters, does not stop there.
Before starting the speed dating test, Stéphane adds two new criteria, which he had not previously provided. Thus, his suitor must not smoke or have a dog. “That could be a problem for me on weekends when we want to go away,” the candidate confides. “What are we going to do with dogs? Even in everyday life… I’m fine with the dog, but he’s not going to get on the couch. I don’t want to clean the hair.” Before adding: “I don’t want a girl who smokes and we didn’t put that in the profiles,” Stéphane clarified to Karine Le Marchand. The host, somewhat disillusioned, laughs and asks him: “What if her dog smokes?”
Very serious and admitting to being a maniac, Stéphane, in search of his soul mate, did not fail to ask his suitors if they had a dog or if they smoked. By forgetting very (too) often what they had specified in their letter. As with Typhaine, where the breeder was convinced that she was a kinesiologist, while she keeps… animals. Stubborn on the criteria he had defined, Stéphane struggles to communicate and to be interested in his nine courtesans. A behavior that made Karine Le Marchand lose her temper.
“Do you want a little spanking, or not?”
“Do you want a little spanking, or not?” asks the host of “Love is in the meadow” as she enters the speed dating room. Do you think you listened to the girls, asked them questions about themselves? You don’t know anything about them. Besides, you barely remembered what they did.” A real reminder that somewhat disconcerted Stéphane. But the farmer from the Vosges is not the only one to confuse us with his criteria.
Thus, during his portrait, the septuagenarian Gilles had sexual demands towards his future sweetheart. “I can’t imagine a woman who doesn’t like that at all [le sexe]he had conceded to Karine Le Marchand. If she doesn’t like making love, it’s better for her to stay with her mother. It brings love closer to us.” Renaud, a chicken farmer in Sarthe, confides that he has a particular requirement for his suitors: “I don’t want a woman who doesn’t eat meat. So no vegan, reacts the host. Oh, definitely not! What am I going to do with my pâté? Oh no!”
“I’m still single”
Without going back over the nineteen seasons of M6’s flagship program, there is no shortage of demanding candidates. So, is being demanding a good thing? In the previous season, Julien had been selective to say the least. The farmer had received 16 letters and had decided to keep only three. “It’s a choice to only have three,” he confided to Karine Le Marchand, adding: “When I opened the mail, I made three piles and only took the one where I said yes.” Among the letters kept is that of Thibault, which Julien had described as a “fighter plane.” The 42-year-old dairy farmer in Burgundy-Franche-Comté placed spontaneity, sincerity, honesty, and physical appearance above all else. During the stay at the farm, the romance with Thibault began, before dying out a few months after the program.
During the reviews of season 18 of “L’Amour est dans le pré”, the farmer returned to the reasons for his breakup with Thibault. “In the portrait, I was clear in saying: ‘I need someone who has their own professional life, who can manage, a little autonomous and all that.’ And there, there wasn’t any,” Julien analyzed with Karine Le Marchand. The same year, Anaïs, a goat breeder and cheesemaker very involved in her work, wanted above all else a stable relationship, with a man her age, at the same time “kind, positive and full of energy, who knows how to communicate and live things to the fullest”. Despite a romance born on the farm, the young woman confessed to being alone at the end of the adventure. “On the love side, it’s really not great: I’m still single,” she admitted. It remains to be seen whether the demanding Stéphane will have more luck this year.
