At least 100 people were killed and 150 injured in a fire at a wedding party in the Hamdaniya district of Iraq’s Nineveh province. Iraqi state media reported early Wednesday morning that the fire broke out in a large event hall after fireworks were set off during the celebrations.
Nineveh Deputy Governor Hasan al-Allaq confirmed to Reuters that 113 people had died in the incident so far. Preliminary information suggested the building was made of highly flammable construction materials, state media reported. Ambulances and medical personnel were dispatched to the scene.
