Investor project – Monopoly with seniors – District of Munich

Hardly any other topic has caused such a stir in Feldkirchen in recent years as the planned retirement home at Münchner Straße 22 – not even the seemingly endless renovation of the train station, which should have been barrier-free for around three years now, but is far from being . While the citizens have at least come to terms with this nuisance, the protest against the plans for the home does not end.

A care facility with 130 rooms, 20 day care places and 30 apartments for assisted living is to be built on a plot of almost 5500 square meters. Some critics say that is too much. At the citizens’ meeting on Wednesday evening, they again presented their concerns. The municipal council now has to deal with their applications within three months: an infiltration report, comprehensive concepts for senior citizens and the area at the western entrance to the town as well as an integrity check of the investor.

Since the plans for the facility became public in mid-July, critics of the project have been present at almost every meeting of the building committee or local council, most of them live in the streets in the immediate vicinity of the planned home. You have now founded a citizens’ initiative called Pro Feldkirchen. One is not fundamentally against a retirement home, the property on Münchner Strasse is also conceivable, emphasized almost everyone who spoke at the citizens’ meeting. However, the size of the project is disproportionate, the residents expect negative effects – both for the later residents of the home and for themselves.

Elvira Herfurtner referred to the enormous area that would be sealed if the facility were to be built as planned. The resident fears that rainwater and meltwater will no longer be able to seep into the ground sufficiently and flow into the cellars in the area. Herfurther demands an expert opinion.

Martin Steuer noted that a large retirement home would change the image of Feldkirchen significantly. After all, Münchner Strasse is the entrance to the town, a business card, so to speak. In order not to give visitors a bad impression right from the start, an overall concept must be drawn up that not only includes the property of the retirement home, but the entire area up to the entrance to the town.

Several citizens also criticized investor Michael Schamberger. This is all about profit, feared Frank Gröger. “The seniors are only being promoted as investment objects. We don’t want to play in this Monopoly.” The community has to be independent in the planning – according to Gröger, a senior concept can help, which specifies the exact number of needs.

Doubts about Schamberger’s reliability were also expressed. Its liquidity has already been checked by the municipality, “but that is not enough”. Many investors have enough money – but some are dubious and unreliable. One citizen requested that Schamberger’s integrity should be examined in detail. Those present unanimously accepted the proposals, and Mayor Andreas Janson (Independent Voters’ Association) also agreed. The idea of getting a retirement home is what drives him, “but not at any price”. His goal is to find the best concept together with the citizens.
