After the fatal traffic accident in Malchin on Christmas Day, the police and the public prosecutor’s office are trying to reconstruct the exact course of the accident. A 21-year-old is being investigated for illegal removal from the scene of the accident and negligent homicide.
The 21-year-old had reported to the police in Neubrandenburg one day after the accidental death of the pedestrian. According to officials, she said she was involved in the accident late on Christmas Day.
Severe damage to the car
During an interrogation, she testified that she was driving her car in the direction of Rostock and heard a bang, which she did not connect with an accident. The 21-year-old only became aware of the accident through media reports. She now wants to help clarify the matter. The woman’s car was secured. According to the police, severe damage and traces match the accident in Malchin.
Investigations continue
A passer-by found the body on the morning of Boxing Day on Stavenhagener Straße in Malchin and alerted the rescue services. Police believe the accident happened between 10:30 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. the night before. It is currently not known whether the young woman would have survived if she had been helped in time. The autopsy is still pending.
According to the police, investigators from the criminal police, forensic medicine and Dekra were on duty on Tuesday. The investigations are ongoing.
