Investigations against LKA officials in Saxony-Anhalt – politics

Criminal investigations have been initiated against four LKA officials in Saxony-Anhalt on suspicion of right-wing extremism. Like the Ministry of the Interior Süddeutsche Zeitung confirmed on Friday evening, it is about “bilateral communication processes with content that trivializes (according to the current status of examination) National Socialism”. Two bodyguards were forbidden to conduct official business, and two other officers were transferred to office work. Disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against all four.

the MDR and the Central German newspaper reported that it was two longtime bodyguards of Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff (CDU). “According to the current status of the examination, there is no evidence of participation in right-wing extremist chat groups and no evidence of belonging to the prepper scene,” the interior ministry continued. The investigation was initiated by the evaluation of another person’s mobile phone. At no time was there any danger for protection personnel.

Left, Greens and SPD are concerned

The domestic policy spokeswoman for the Left Group, Henriette Quade, immediately called for clarification: “We have another police scandal and again there is existential uncertainty and fear among everyone who is threatened by the Nazis.” The Greens group was also alarmed. “Protecting our constitutional bodies from attacks by enemies of the constitution is the task of all police officers in Saxony-Anhalt. The mere suspicion that officers with right-wing extremist attitudes could have been used to protect the prime minister in the past worries me deeply,” said Sebastian Striegel, who domestic spokesman for the parliamentary group.

SPD domestic politician Rüdiger Erben called the idea that officials with far-right tendencies have protected important representatives of the country unbearable. Intensive investigations and maximum transparency towards the public are now needed.
