investigation opened for “apology for terrorism” at the Allonnes mosque

An investigation was opened for “apologia for terrorism” and “provocation to commit terrorist acts” after the announcement of the administrative closure of the mosque from Allonnes, near Le Mans, announced Friday the prosecutor of the Republic of Le Mans. “I confirm to you that judicial investigations are underway on the facts of apology for terrorism and provocation to commit terrorist acts, likely to have been committed by members or leaders of associations managing the Allonnes mosque”, declared prosecutor Delphine Dewailly in a press release.

The investigation is carried out under his authority by the regional service of the judicial police. The prefecture of Sarthe announced on Wednesday that it had initiated a procedure to close this mosque, which accommodates around 300 faithful, where sermons legitimize according to it “the recourse to armed jihad”. “According to the elements collected, sermons and the activity of this place of worship, frequented by individuals belonging to or close to the radical Islamist movement, legitimize the use of armed jihad, death as a martyr, the commission of acts terrorism and the use of violence, hatred and discrimination as well as the establishment of Sharia law, ”she said in a statement.

“An approach and a posting policy”

The place also houses a Koranic school “welcoming about 110 children before whom the armed jihad was valued and which therefore constitutes a place of indoctrination”, according to the prefecture. The Allonnaise Association for the Golden Mean (AAJM), which manages the Allonnes mosque (Sarthe) denounced Friday on Facebook “serious accusations”. “The Minister of the Interior (Gérald Darmanin, editor’s note) is once again illustrated in an approach and a display policy”, indicates the association in a press release released Thursday on its Facebook page.

The leaders of the association promise to challenge “judicially the measures and decisions taken”, regretting “the damage done to the faithful who frequent the mosque and to the Muslim community which is wronged and stigmatized”. “These Allonnaise associations and their managers have always worked for good and preached Islam in the middle ground”, maintains the AAJM.
