It was 2.15 p.m. on Saturday when the Rennes fire switchboard rang. People alert them to the disappearance of their friend, who has gone to bathe in the Vilaine, near the arm of Boulevard Laënnec. Quickly, the help is on the spot, joined by the police and the Samu. It will take them thirty minutes to find the lifeless body of this 45-year-old man. Resuscitation attempts will be unsuccessful and the man will be declared dead on the spot.

Two days after the tragedy, the reasons for the man’s death are still unknown. According to the police, he would have liked to cool off and would have dived in the river for the first time, before coming out and diving a second time, without reappearing on the surface. An investigation was opened and entrusted to the departmental security.
