The video referee, or VAR for short, is the constant bone of contention in professional football. The reality after five years of video evidence is that misjudgments are prevented week after week, as promised – which hardly anyone talks about. But in many cases there are still disputed and wrong decisions despite monitor viewing – and everyone is talking about it.
