Tinkering, shooting videos, thinking further: A large creative workshop for Youtubers and other digital minds is being built on 2,000 square meters in Magdeburg. In addition to recording studios, there should also be space for innovation.

In an industrial hall in Magdeburg, a large room is being created for Youtubers and other creative people. According to the operator, it will be the largest digital creative center in Germany.

In addition to film studios, it should above all become a network location, said Sebastian Herden, one of the founders of Studio5. The idea behind the studios is also to strengthen the East region and develop digital business models. «The basics are there. We have rooms, we have good people here, ”said Herd.

Together with Sandra and Sebastian Gauck, he came up with the idea of starting a mixture of film studio and location for digital creative projects. All three previously worked for a large telecommunications company and saw how networking and digitization work. As so-called craft fluencers, the Gauck couple have also been building workbenches, terraces or simply talking about tools on their YouTube channel since 2017 – they first recorded their videos in a garage.

“Make it easy”

Now they are producing in the big halls. The team will expand the 2000 square meters themselves. What exactly is happening can be tracked online. Nine employees are busy with it. And everyone does everything. “One of our credo is: just do it,” said Sandra Gauck. Every room and studio should have a different character in the future. The own workshop is already there. A knee-friendly floor was laid, there is a wall with tools, a workbench and everything that makes a craftsman’s heart beat faster. But also cameras, sound technology and a control room. It’s a mixture of a classic workshop and a film studio.

Another room is to be expanded like a barn – on two levels. “A house in a house.” Every corner should be usable differently. That way, between 10 and 15 sets could be created there alone. “The idea is that we create very different worlds,” says Gauck. At the moment it still takes a lot of imagination, because the wood for the expansion is still stacked on the floor, the room itself is empty. In addition, small and well-sealed studios are also to be created, which should also be suitable for podcast productions.
