PSG has not been spared from setbacks at the start of the season. Already deprived, and for several more weeks, of Gonçalo Ramos, Lucas Hernandez and Presnel Kimpembe, the Parisian club will travel to Reims on Saturday without Gianluigi Donnarumma, still not recovered from his injury sustained against Brest last weekend, nor Marco Asensio, injured this week in the Champions League.
“Injuries are never a positive thing,” coach Luis Enrique simply noted at a press conference on Friday, although he did assure us that he did not regret the somewhat light recruitment carried out this summer.
The Spaniard believes that this season’s team is better than last year’s. “I said last year that it would be, and I think it is,” he said. “And we will have an even better team next year, although I don’t know the players we will have. It’s a positive thought that I try to transmit within the club.”
” That’s life ! “
As usual, Luis Enrique did not elaborate on the identity of the striker who would take his place at the forefront of his 4-3-3, notably not confirming the announced presence of Randal Kolo Muani. The Asturian is a past master, as we realised last season, in the art of confusing the tracks and appearing where no one expects him. Not even his players, sometimes surprised not to be in the starting 11.
“My job is to be unfair,” he justified. “The last match against Girona, 16 players deserved to be starters, but there are only 11 players who can be on the pitch. So I will be unfair all season, and I hope to be able to be very unfair with the maximum number of them, that will mean that they are all ready to play, to give their best performance.” Before concluding, in French in the text: “That’s life!”
