Ingolstadt: freight train collides with a car – Bavaria

A car driver was hit by a freight train on a level crossing in Ingolstadt and dragged in her vehicle. The 22-year-old had overlooked the flashing lights and the St. Andrew’s cross early Tuesday morning and turned right, the police said. There was no barrier.

As she crossed the tracks, the train hit her and dragged her about 25 meters. Emergency services took the woman, who was reportedly slightly to moderately injured, to a hospital. She is not in mortal danger. The 53-year-old train driver was not injured. The total damage was around 50,000 euros.

A week earlier, there had also been an accident involving a car and a train in Upper Bavaria near Eschenlohe (Garmisch-Partenkirchen district). According to the police, a car had driven onto the tracks there despite the closed barrier. The driver suffered life-threatening injuries when he collided with a regional train. The train driver and passengers were not injured.
