STORY: Armed only with a rope, Indonesian villagers recently tamed and captured a four-meter-long crocodile. According to a 53-year-old resident, the crocodile roamed around his village of Ambau Indah in South Sulawesi province for about two days before a joint decision was taken to take action. “If we had left it alone, it would certainly have come ashore. And we couldn’t have gone into the rice fields anymore. That would have been dangerous. There are also roadside ditches here that locals fish in. It could have climbed up the ditch. That’s why we had to take the risk of being caught.” The massive reptile was handed over to the local conservation authority. Staff loaded the animal onto a truck and released it back into the wild.
