A terminal at Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport has been set up to accommodate several dozen Indians in illegal transit through French territory, we learned from airport sources on Monday. For fear of the formation of a cluster of Covid-19 contamination, the Red Cross and Anafé (national association for border assistance for foreigners) decided at the end of June to withdraw their employees from the largest area of he airport waiting in France, where foreigners who are not authorized to enter the territory are kept.

On Friday, the authorities, with the logistical support of Aéroports de Paris (ADP), therefore installed a temporary annex to the waiting area for pending persons (Zapi) in terminal 2A of the airport, information disclosed by the daily The Parisian. “We have made camp beds available in a terminal that has been closed since the summer and allowed access to sanitary facilities. Eighty to 90 people in transit with administrative visa problems are currently there, ”ADP said on Monday.

They all refused to be tested

The number of foreigners kept in the main waiting area has thus dropped to “35”, according to an airport source. All foreigners installed in the temporary annex are Indian nationals, the vast majority of them men, said this source. They all refused to be tested, “but some came in with negative PCRs and have been there for 17 days.”

For the most part, these Indians are in transit between Moscow and Mexico City, with the hope of immigrating to North America. But they do not have a visa and therefore have to be re-routed to Moscow. On the front line in the face of the pandemic with Brazil, India has recorded 3,400 additional deaths and 370,000 new contaminations in 24 hours.
