Standing ovations and honorary prize: Harrison Ford should not have regretted his trip to Cannes for the premiere of “Indiana Jones 5”.

During this film premiere, even the otherwise robust Harrison Ford (80) became emotional: At the current Cannes Film Festival, the fifth part of the famous “Indiana Jones” series was presented to an audience for the first time. In addition to five minutes of standing ovations, the veteran star was also able to look forward to a special surprise – he was presented with an unannounced Palme d’Or for his life’s work.

The star, who was also presented with a highlight video of his long career, was visibly touched and thanked for the unexpected award: “It is said that shortly before you die, you see your life flicker by. I just have my life flicker in front of my eyes see – a big part of my life, but not the whole”, said Ford in his spontaneous acceptance speech.

His wife Calista Flockhart (58), “who supported my passion and my dreams,” played the biggest role in his career. Then he thanked the audience present: “I love you too. Thank you. You gave my life meaning and meaning, I’m grateful for that.”

Farewell is sealed

Ford was at the premiere in the presence of his “Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny” colleagues Phoebe Waller-Bridge (37), Mads Mikkelsen (57), Boyd Holbrook (41) and Ethann Isidore (16), also director James Mangold (59) attended the special moment of his title star.

The film “Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny”, which is being shown out of competition in Cannes, is currently due to start in German cinemas on June 29. Ahead of the world premiere in France, Ford announced that “Indie 5” would definitely be his last film as a cult archaeologist. Confirmed to the magazine “Total Film”. he said, “This is the last film in the series and the last time I play the character.”
