This Thursday morning, some of them met in front of the Toulouse headquarters of Thales Alenia Space to distribute a unit leaflet, others will deploy in their companies. These representatives of the eight majority unions in Haute-Garonne will only have a message “we don’t give up” against the pension reform.
For these organizations, united as they had not been for a long time in a social movement, it is a bit like an election between two rounds. After the “successful” day of January 19, they decided to continue their warm-up lap before that of January 31. This week, it was at the Bourse du Travail in the Pink City that some of their representatives met to set up a battle plan.
“Convinced, the employees are already convinced. But we had to continue to take action. The railway workers tow, we will also do it in front of the CAF and the Social Security this Thursday, ”explains Ghyslaine Ayache of the CGT. In front of her, Hervé Aussel notes that requests to print leaflets come from everywhere, from the public and the private sector.
Mobilizations in small towns
“In all branches, including those less usually mobilized, we had rates of strikers mobilized on January 19. We have employees, who are not unionized or work in small structures, who call us to find out how to strike. We also recorded new memberships, ”continues the trade unionist.
If in Toulouse, more than 50,000 people marched a week ago, it is the very important mobilization in cities like Figeac, Foix, Cahors or Saint-Gaudens which makes it possible to demonstrate, according to them, the strength of this protest, because it affects all populations, whether rural or urban. “On the 31st, people will make the effort to come to the demonstration if they are convinced that we can win. And they have it. Everyone is also aware that there will be an after 31”, assures Marie-Cécile Périllat of the FSU whose union wants to create spaces for discussion within public establishments, in particular education. Everyone hopes that the day of January 31 will be on the heels of that of January 19, in the meantime “we keep the pressure up”.
