in Toulouse, a woman attacked by the “cannibal of Nouilhan”

A gratuitous, violent, and retrospectively quite appalling aggression. An elderly lady was struck Tuesday evening, around 10 p.m., in the Chalets district of Toulouse while she was walking her dog. The Haute-Garonne prefecture, confirming the information from The Midi Dispatch, indicates that the man arrested just after, in particular thanks to the intervention of passers-by, is none other of Jérémy Rimbaud.

He is better known by the nickname “cannibal of the Pyrenees” or “cannibal of Nouilhan” for having killed in 2013, in this small village in the Hautes-Pyrénées, a nonagenarian farmer whose heart and tongue he cooked and ate. Declared irresponsible, the murderer was interned in the Gérard-Marchant psychiatric hospital in Toulouse from which he escaped on Wednesday afternoon.

Immediately re-interned

The former soldier, suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome after a mission in Afghanistan and the target of a paranoid delirium, therefore only took a few hours before being overtaken by his old demons. According to the regional daily, Wednesday evening as in 2013, he hit his new victim on the head with a bar. The state of the latter, traumatized, however, does not inspire concern according to the prefecture.

Jérémy Rimbaud was automatically re-interned as soon as he was identified. The Marchant hospital has not yet communicated on the circumstances in which it was able to give way to the caregivers.
