There are film genres that have been handled so perfectly that other filmmakers don’t even need to try anymore. The best example is the shark horror film. Almost 50 years ago, Steven Spielberg set the bar so high with “Jaws” that other filmmakers can only lose. Which isn’t to say that no one has tried. In the “Meg” films, Jason Statham fought against an example of the actually extinct Megalodon shark. And the trashy “Sharknado” series now has six parts.
