Jewels were stolen from the hotel room of actress Jodie Turner-Smith, present in Cannes for the festival. “The investigation is underway,” said a police source confirming information from Nice morning and of The Hollywood Reporter. It was not immediately clear if the jewels were his or if they had been loaned to him by a brand, common practice during the Cannes Film Festival.
The theft was committed on Friday and “the actress and her entourage seized the police during the day,” said this source, while stressing that the value of the jewelry does not reach the tens of thousands of euros initially mentioned and does not represent “a large sum” with regard to previous news items on the Côte d’Azur. “No track is excluded, we can not say anything for the moment,” added the same source.
Invited for debates on the place of women and minorities
Jodie Turner-Smith, discovered in an American series with fantastic accents True Blood, stood out in the movie poster Queen & Slim (2019), an account of a police check that goes wrong for a black couple in modern America.
Of British nationality, the actress grew up in a family of Jamaican origin, first in Great Britain and then in the United States. She is the guest at Cannes for the debates devoted to the place of women and minorities in cinema, Women in Motion.
