In the kitchen with Jean Imbert, almost a Cannes native

Talent, a naturalness that seduces. When we meet John Imbert, you immediately feel at ease with this passionate about good products, plants and simple dishes. Everything happens in terms of flavors and culinary experiences for this chef who finds his place today on the Croisette, with his recent appointment behind the stoves of Martinez.

Everything succeeds, and it’s obvious for Nespresso to entrust its kitchens to him a third time, for an exceptional dinner during the Cannes Film Festival. Jean Imbert brought his team from the Plaza Athénée, and everything was thought out from a plant-based and eco-responsible prism – right down to the sublime menu, made from compostable paper made from coffee beans.

On the program, vegetables from the garden in a planter, olives from Nice, local tomatoes, pâté en croute and basil condiment, vegetable broth, ravioli from the sun. Little surprise for the guests, the iconic dessert of the Plaza, the soufflé crepe entirely made with coffee, with a praline with… coffee.

Fan of Hitchcock’s “Vertigo”

A great cinephile, Jean Imbert is nonetheless attached to the emotions that art can bring to his fans. Whether in the kitchen or in the dark room, his finesse in deciphering the trends and tastes of others make this chef a rare pearl.

In the kitchen, a few minutes before dinner, he confides: “It’s a bit hot but with my team, we are super excited. I’ve known the festival since I was 16, I know the codes, the stars, the atmosphere here by heart. And I’m so happy to be here… Just like my team! “.

“Cult films, I have too many Stéphanie! But come on, I would say “Vertigo”. I love this era, I love this cinema, but in reality, I could name a thousand others,” says the chef. And a few minutes later, he tells us about his emotion the day before, in the room a few meters from Harrison Ford, whom he saw in tears. “I kept turning around to see him. His attachment to Cannes, city of cinema, has not ceased to intensify.

And in the kitchen, calm continues, with this great chef who hasn’t finished surprising us. After a cinema dinner in connection with MK2, in Paris, what does Jean Imbert have in store for us? How far will his ascent go? One thing is certain, we will follow him!
