In tears, Celine Dion announces the postponement of her tour and discusses her health problems

She had not spoken for several months, leaving her fans worried. This Thursday, singer Celine Dion posted a poignant message on her social networks to explain the reasons for her silence. In a five-minute video, the Quebec star talks about his health problems and announces the postponement of part of his tour which was to start in March. Already rescheduled, all dates scheduled for spring have been postponed. Some events are simply cancelled. This is the case for the concert scheduled for the Vieilles Charrues festival. The shows scheduled from August 26 to October 4 are maintained for the time being. Celine Dion is due to perform from September 1 to 10 at the Paris La Défense Arena.

In a message where she struggles to hold back her tears, Celine Dion explained herself on this postponement. “Until now, I wasn’t ready to talk about what I went through. I have had health problems for a long time. Recently I was diagnosed with a very rare neurological disorder called stiff-person syndrome in English which affects approximately one in a million people. We now know that this is the cause of the muscle spasms from which I suffer, ”explained the 54-year-old singer. These health problems prevent her from performing on stage and forced her to postpone her tour entitled “Courage”. “Unfortunately, these spasms affect my daily life on many levels. I sometimes have a lot of difficulty walking and I can’t always use my vocal cords as I would like. I won’t be ready. »

“Singing is what I’ve done all my life”

Surrounded by numerous doctors, the diva follows an intense rehabilitation and trains daily “to regain strength and endurance”. Concern is high among some fans, who fear that they will no longer be able to attend a concert by the planetary star. “Singing is what I’ve done all my life. For me, not being able to do that anymore is unimaginable. I can’t wait to get back on stage, ”she tries to reassure. In 2020, she had started her tour before being stopped by the pandemic. More than 200,000 tickets had been sold in a few hours for the concerts planned in France, which had to be postponed.
