In order not to close the door to the Olympics, Nikola Karabatic wants to extend until June 2024

Nikola Karabatic still wants to defend the colors of PSG. The French international handball player thus declared on Tuesday that he wanted to “extend until June 2024” with the capital club.

The 38-year-old player is currently “in discussion” with Paris SG Handball. Above all, a one-year extension would allow him to apply for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, where the Blues will defend their title won last year in Tokyo. But, he admitted, “even if I extend for a year in the club, there is no guarantee that I will still play for the France team”.

Avoid “too much dreaming”

“I try to avoid dreaming too much, to concentrate on what is happening. Everything can go very quickly, I had the experience of the injury, and the postponed Olympic Games ”, however temporized Nikola Karabatic. Selected in the group of Blues to prepare for the World Cup-2023, from January 11 to 29, the player with a rich record (triple Olympic champion, quadruple world champion, triple European champion) had cast doubt on his future in- beyond next June, which currently corresponds to the end of his contract with the Parisian club.

“I wanted to first see my form and my ability to go the distance and the shock, and also to see if I was good, and if I was useful to the team,” he explained. “I realized that I felt good, that I was good and fit and that I wanted to continue,” he added. The pen is therefore ready on its side to sign.
