One often wonders whether one can become a criminal out of love. So that you do something to someone because you love them. The Berlin Attorney General Margarete Koppers once said that this was impossible. “Love and crime are mutually exclusive. If I love someone, I won’t kill them.” Conversely, however, there are many who fall in love with criminals. Again and again we hear that terrorists or gunmen get married in prison. The phenomenon is so common that it has its own name: hybristophilia.
