Immunization instructions sent to Burger King employees? That is true !

The publication on social networks, Sunday, July 18, of a “memo” from Burger King relating to the application of the new rules of the health pass announced by Emmanuel Macron created a stir and made emerge, the next day, a hashtag calling for a boycott of the fast food chain.

This memo sparked a call to boycott Burger King on social media – Tom Hollmann

This document, peppered with spelling errors, indicates that “all employees must have a health pass to be able to work” from August 31 – in accordance with the rules soon in force in bars and restaurants to stem the epidemic of Covid-19 – and that “the only solution to obtain the health pass is, of course, vaccination”. An error, because obtaining a certificate of recovery of less than six months and more than two weeks and a PCR or antigen test of less than 48 hours also constitute a health pass and allow you to continue working.

From the beginning of September, the document continues, employees who do not have a health pass will see their employment contract and their remuneration suspended. A provision effectively provided for by the bill currently being examined by the National Assembly.

FAKE OFF

On his Facebook account, Burger King Antilles quickly denied “any involvement in [la] realization or [la] dissemination ”of this memo. “A complaint will be lodged in order to know the origin of this publication and to determine whether it was carried out with the aim of harming the company as well as all of its employees,” the press release further indicates.

The Antillean entity, which manages the Guadeloupe and Martinique brands, is not, however, attached to Burger King France, responsible for metropolitan restaurants and a subsidiary of the Bertrand group. Solicited by 20 minutes, Burger King France said “none of the notes” posted on social networks were from its services.

“The legal provisions apply to all Burger King restaurants, so only the sanitary pass will be requested and checked, in accordance with the bill,” says the restaurant company. “We do not force anyone to be vaccinated, on the other hand, to help employees who wish to be vaccinated, we have communicated to restaurants the means of showing solidarity to encourage vaccination: by communicating on the means to make an appointment, by offering assistance in making an appointment, recalling that vaccination time could be taken during working time; he is then paid. “

Vaccination instructions for employees relayed in an awkward way by several franchised restaurants, as reported by our colleagues from Release. The “memo n ° 20” which we spoke to you above, object of the controversy, is part of it. The latter is an “assumed escape” from the union union Solidaires, as reported to “Checknews” by the co-delegate of the Southern Federation of shops and services, Laurent Degousée. “The law, whether you like it or not, must be promulgated before being applied […]. They cannot ask for a copy of the vaccination certificate by email, it is illegal, ”he said indignantly.

Similar instructions, sent by email or posted in restaurants in the Paris region, Grand-Est and Hauts de France, could be consulted by Release.

Burger King France returns the responsibility for these ratings to establishments affiliated with the brand: In a franchise restaurant, the employer is the franchisee. We never give them an instruction, we didn’t do it for the health pass. “ These directives may therefore have been taken independently of the will of the group.
