German government transferred over 3,000 BTC, bringing the total amount of BTC transferred by the government in the past 24 hours to five digits
The transaction has continued since June 19, despite calls from lawmaker Joana Cotar for the government to “avoid” the move.
In the past 24 hours, the German government has seen a total of more than 6,000 BTC inflows and outflows, with more than half of them being transferred out of wallets.
During the day, the current address holding 35,488 BTC, worth over $2 billion, received 4,340 BTC, and more than 3,000 BTC was moved to an exchange or to an unknown address.
Cotar issued a statement to the German government on July 4, stating that keeping BTC could help the country diversify its treasury, promote innovation, and hedge against inflation, but that selling the state’s BTC holdings would be “not only unreasonable, but also counterproductive.” However, the government sold another $172 million in assets on the same day.
