A lack of goals at the Ice Hockey World Cup is causing frustration for striker JJ Peterka. The German national team needs his goals.
So far it hasn’t been that yet Ice Hockey World Championship by NHL professional JJ Peterka.
With six goals and six assists, the 22-year-old played a major role in last year’s runner-up finish in the World Cup. In Ostrava, the Buffalo Sabers striker is waiting for his first taste of success before the game against Latvia in the afternoon (4:20 p.m./ProSieben and MagentaSport). “I hope that the knot will burst and the goals will roll,” said Peterka.
The former Munich player had opportunities in all three games, but so far without any results. “I’m very ambitious, so that bothers me,” said Peterka. The NHL player emphasized that the national team had “earned” opportunities for itself. With three points, the selection of the German Ice Hockey Association is under pressure again. “We have to win every game from now on,” demanded Peterka.
His goals should help with that. He doesn’t care if Germany is 3-0 down or if he takes the lead. “One goal can decide a lot,” said the offensive player. Things didn’t go right for Peterka in last year’s silver coup either, as he scored almost at will. In the past season in North America he impressed with 28 goals and 22 assists.
