Leon Draisaitl is having a good phase again with the Edmonton Oilers in the NHL: In Las Vegas, the man from Cologne scores twice. The playoff spots are within reach.

Hockey national player Leon Draisaitl scored two goals to lead the Edmonton Oilers to a major NHL win.

In the 4:3 against the Vegas Golden Nights, the man from Cologne scored 2:0 and 3:1. After beating the Pacific Division leaders, the Oilers remain fifth in their season and outside of the playoff spots, but are now only seven points off first place.

Second in the division, the Seattle Kraken moved two points clear of the Golden Knights with an 8-5 win over the Chicago Blackhawks. National goalkeeper Philipp Grubauer was not used in the eighth win in a row.

JJ Peterka, meanwhile, played his part in the Buffalo Sabers’ 5-3 win over the Nashville Predators with Dylan Cozens providing an assist early in the second period to make it 2-1. It was Peterka’s eleventh assist of the season in the North American league.

Tim Stützle conceded a 7-0 thrashing with the Ottawa Senators against the Colorado Avalanche, who had previously lost seven of eight NHL games. Moritz Seider also left the ice as a loser. The Detroit Red Wings still had hope thanks to three goals in the last third, but were unable to make up the 0:4 deficit against the Columbus Blue Jackets and lost 3:4.

Alexander Ovechkin scored his 30th goal of the season in the Washington Capitals’ 3-1 draw with the Philadelphia Flyers, setting an NHL record. For the 17th time, the 37-year-old Russian has scored at least 30 goals in one season. Only Mike Gartner managed that before him.
