EHC Red Bull Munich also won its third game after the second Corona team quarantine of the season. He won the derby against the Augsburg Panthers in the empty Olympic ice rink 2-1 after extra time and thus moved closer to the top three in the DEL table. Augsburg, who had slipped lower and lower in the table in recent weeks, were the more dangerous team in the first third. Henrik Haukeland in the Munich goal got a lot to do and also defused a shot from Colin Campbell, who was outnumbered directly in front of him (16th). In the middle third, Augsburg goalkeeper Markus Keller stole the show. Between the 25th and 28th minutes alone he destroyed four very good Munich chances to score, the best was missed by Philip Gogulla, who failed with his solo effort by Keller (28th). The final third began with Augsburg 1-0, defender Scott Valentine successfully completed a nice counterattack (41st). Austin Ortega’s 17th goal of the season gave the EHC the equalizer (51st). Ben Street ensured Munich’s victory in extra time (64th). Munich have no games on Friday before three games await them within four days from Sunday – including the semi-finals in the Champions Hockey League (CHL) at Tappara Tampere in Finland (January 25).
