“I really did not imagine that Coumba could betray our alliance”, regrets Candice

She will not have had the opportunity to take revenge. This Tuesday night, Candice was eliminated from Koh-Lanta: The legend at the end of his first test in the arena. Faced with Ugo and Clémentine, the young woman did not manage to extend her stay on the island of the banished. If she had succeeded in beating her competitor and her competitor, Candice might have had the opportunity to eliminate Coumba, the one she trusted and who nevertheless betrayed her by writing her first name on the ballot. She looks back on her third participation in the TF1 game for 20 minutes.

Let’s talk about the Island of the Outcast first. By staying there for such a short time, are we still projecting ourselves on a potential return to the adventure?

What motivated me was seeing Ugo who was there from day one and who managed to win all the arenas. Finally, it is not that far because there are not many duels left before being able to return to the game. Seeing Ugo, I told myself that anything was possible.

Is the second start even harder than the first because there was a burst of hope? Or does the surprise of the votes during the first council have no equivalent?

The second start was easier because I was only relying on my performance to get into the game. It was up to me, there was no betrayal. I was really disappointed with the first tip because I was relying on people who betrayed me. The first one was really more brutal, I was more surprised and very disappointed.

How did you react when you saw Denis Brogniart coming towards you with a torch in hand?

At first, I wondered why Denis was coming. He is used to coming to meet the eliminated after their elimination to talk about the adventure, he travels out of sympathy. On that occasion, I saw him arrive but with a torch. He asked me if I wanted to re-enter the game. Choosing to return to France did not even cross my mind. I was so disappointed just before it was all positive. Obviously, I was super surprised because normally, second chances do not exist on Koh Lanta. For once, I was offered one so it was only positive for the future.

Now let’s talk about counseling. At the time of the first round, you vote against Clémence because you knew she had an immunity collar. Why not have voted against Sam, which would have eliminated him directly?

You should know that between girls, we consulted each other after reading the message [annonçant qu’il fallait prendre ses affaires avec soi lors de l’épreuve d’immunité] because we suspected that there would be a surprise advice. At that point, we thought we would vote against Phil. We had not at all anticipated that he would be immunized by the opposing team. I knew that Clémence was going to take out her necklace but I did not know who she was going to vote against because this advice was surprised and we did not have time to consult. I suspected, via a conversation I had had with Christelle a few days earlier, that the votes would go to Clémence. So as not to alienate other adventurers, I voted against Clémence. I knew she wasn’t going out because she had her necklace on. Basically, I thought that the person against whom Clémence was going to vote was going to come out and that I would not alienate anyone. I had not at all anticipated that Coumba was going to vote against me. That’s why it might seem stupid when you see the pictures but, at the time, I had no idea who Clemence was going to vote against and I really thought I would do a good job doing that.

On the networks, we read that voting against Clémence was like shooting yourself in the foot. Do you think that strategy was not your strong point this season?

Yes, strategy has never been my strong suit in my previous adventures. I told myself that I was going to play a little more in this Koh Lantathere, that I was going to be more strategist. Some people say that if it had worked, it would have been a great move. There, it didn’t work out so people say I shot myself in the foot. You should know that at that time, I had Coumba who was still speaking very loudly, who put me in confidence and I really had not imagined for a single second that she could betray this alliance.

The discussion about the women’s alliance with Claude has hurt you. Would you have played a low profile if you had known about the consequences?

After reflection, I tell myself that when Claude learned about this story of the alliance of women, he perhaps felt in danger and he wanted to invent a myth. His idea was perhaps that we fried with Coumba to break this alliance and, in the end, that’s what happened. Looking back, I tell myself that maybe I could have talked about it only with Coumba but, on the other hand, I found it cowardly that she still had her mouth open and that at the moment where you have to take responsibility, she does not take responsibility, it was infuriating. I think I had been flawless on the camp so I wanted Coumba to assume what she had said before and that everything does not fall on me when I was not initiating anything at all.

On the networks, Coumba has apologized, explaining that she had been “execrable and not correct” with you. Is all forgiven?

Yes. You should know that Coumba wrote to me long before doing it on the networks. In July, we had that discussion. I don’t hold a grudge, I don’t like staying on bad terms with the people I know and there, for once, we were going to meet. I prefer to forget the grievances and move on. Today all is forgiven. The fact that she apologizes openly on Instagram, I think, means that she regrets. It is no use blaming him ad vitam æternam.

Let’s talk frankly… This 100% female alliance: good or bad idea?

In principle, this was not a bad idea. It’s always a little more or less what it’s done on Koh Lanta : the first teams come together and if ever the alliance holds to the end, it can work. It just so happened that we were just girls at first, but the boys did the same – and so far it seems to be working with the guys. In principle, if Alexandra and Alix had not returned their jacket so quickly and had not eliminated Clémentine, and if Christelle and Coumba had kept their word on my side, in principle, reunification is coming and we could have done carnage and go as far as possible. After, we are in Koh Lanta, there are always reversals of situations.
