“I find that there is a real link between content creation and short films”

A talent on the networks, but not only. Firefly, whose real name is Laurène Arnoux, is at the Cannes Film Festival to make content on its networks, in particular TikTok. 1 million 400,000 people watch his videos daily, and we understand them. Passionate about cinema, more specifically horror films, the young designer already has a fine career as an author and artistic director, for Squeezie, behind her. “It’s my first time at Cannes, there are a few less horror films than I’m used to, but I love it. I’m discovering a whole universe, passionate people, I’m happy to be there,” she confides to 20 minutes.

“My favorite movie is ‘The Truman Show’. Afterwards, the branch that I prefer is horror cinema, fantasy cinema. I like films that are out of the ordinary, that make you a little anxious”. A bit like his videos, which change from the ordinary, which allow us to escape a little from our daily lives.

Influencers also talk about cinema

“I find that there is a real link between content creation and short films. There is this reflection, this desire to share already. So it’s the same intention I think. Afterwards, it is not made the same, necessarily concerning creation on the Internet, it is a little more “simple”, we will post with 2-3 cuts in the editing whereas for a film, there is all the work of a team. So it’s not the same way, but the intention is really similar,” explains Luciole. The eternal debate, since TikTok has been an official partner of the Cannes Film Festival, that is to say since last year.

Should creators be lumped together? “On TikTok, you have people who get up with an idea, and who realize it with their phone. Sometimes it’s impressive, for a short format like that, vertically”. To believe that this 76th edition of the Cannes Film Festival will not have ceased to give visibility to those who do, regardless of the medium or the platform.
