A driver left his seriously injured passenger in the car in Lower Bavaria after he caused an accident while drunk. The 29-year-old was driving too fast through a construction site in Hunding (Deggendorf district) when he lost control of the car and crashed into the ditch, the police said. Despite her injuries, the man left the 24-year-old passenger in the car and ran away.
The police and fire department then searched for the man using helicopters and drones, among other things. A fire department aircraft found the slightly injured man about a kilometer from the scene of the accident a good two hours after the incident.
The 29-year-old is being investigated for, among other things, endangering road traffic, escaping an accident and failing to provide assistance. The police are also investigating the suspicion that the man’s speeding at the construction site could be an illegal car race.
